Telegram
Post and schedule text, photos, and videos to Telegram channels and groups through the Tebar bot.
Account: a Telegram channel or group. Tebar posts through its official bot, @TebarAppBot, which you add to that channel or group. Tebar never asks for your Telegram login or phone number.
Make sure the bot is @TebarAppBot
There are other bots with similar names, such as @TebarBot, that are not Tebar's. The button in Tebar always opens @TebarAppBot, so you never have to search for it.
Connecting a channel or group
- In Tebar, open Connect account → Telegram, then click Open @TebarAppBot.
- In Telegram, press Start.
- The bot sends two buttons: Add to channel or Add to group. Choose one, then pick the chat.
- In a channel, give the bot the Post messages permission. In a group, the bot joins as an admin with a single permission (delete messages). Telegram only lists channels and groups where you are an admin.
The channel or group shows up in Tebar a few seconds later. You can add several chats while the Tebar window is still open (the code is valid for 30 minutes).
The bot speaks the language of your Tebar account, or your Telegram app's language before you have chosen one.
- Only the owner or admins of a channel or group can connect it to Tebar.
- No message appears in the channel while connecting, so your subscribers get no notification.
- If you are a group admin who remains anonymous, Telegram does not tell the bot who added it, so the group cannot be connected. Turn off Remain anonymous briefly while connecting.
- If the bot is already in that channel or group (connected by another Tebar user, for example), remove the bot first, then add it again with the steps above.
Who the post appears from
- Channel: posts appear as your channel, without mentioning Tebar.
- Group: posts appear from the Tebar bot. That is how Telegram shows bot messages in groups.
What you can post
| Type | Rules |
|---|---|
| Text only | Up to 4,096 characters (emoji can count as 2) |
| Photo or video | 1 photo or 1 video, with text up to 1,024 characters |
| Album | 2 to 10 photos and videos, the text shows on the first item |
- Photos up to 8 MB, videos up to 50 MB (the Telegram bot limit).
- Text is sent as is. Bold or italic formatting is not supported yet.
Options in the Create post window (the Telegram account tab):
- No notification: subscribers get the post silently.
- Protect content: the post cannot be forwarded or saved.
- No link preview: links in the text are not shown as a card (text posts only).
Daily limit
A channel or group can receive up to 50 posts per 24 hours from Tebar. The bot is shared by every Tebar user, so this limit keeps it safe from being blocked as spam.
If the bot is removed
If the bot is removed from the channel or group, or loses its permission to post, the account shows Needs reconnecting. Add the bot again or restore its permission, straight in Telegram or through Reconnect on the Accounts page. The account becomes active again by itself.
If several Tebar users connect the same chat (two admins of one group, for example), the bot only leaves once all of them have disconnected it.
If a post gets no answer from Telegram, Tebar does not send it again, so it never publishes twice. The post is marked failed with a message to check the channel first.
Not available
Comments and statistics: a Telegram bot cannot read them for channels. Posts you make directly in Telegram do not show in the Tebar calendar either.
Disconnecting the account
Click Disconnect on the Accounts page. The bot leaves the channel or group automatically.
