# Discord (/en/discord)

**Account:** one text channel on a Discord server. Tebar posts through a **webhook**, Discord's built-in way to send messages to a channel. Tebar does not use a bot and does not keep access to your Discord account.

## Connecting a channel [#connecting-a-channel]

1. In Tebar, open **Connect account** and choose **Discord**.
2. Log in to Discord if asked, then choose the **server** and **channel**.
3. Click **Authorize**. Discord creates a webhook named Tebar in that channel, then you return to Tebar.

- You need the **Manage Webhooks** permission on that server. Server owners and admins usually have it.
- **One Tebar account = one channel.** To post to `#announcements` and `#promo`, connect Discord twice. Each counts as one account on your plan.
- On the Accounts page, a Discord account shows with its server's name and icon.

## Who the post appears from [#who-the-post-appears-from]

Messages appear from the webhook, with an **APP** label next to its name. You can change its name and picture in Discord: **Edit Channel** → **Integrations** → **Webhooks** → choose the Tebar webhook.

## What you can post [#what-you-can-post]

| Type | Rules |
| ----------------- | --------------------------------------------- |
| Text | Up to 2,000 characters (emoji can count as 2) |
| Photos and videos | Up to 10 files per post, with or without text |

- Each file up to **20 MB** (Discord's upload limit). Tebar photos are up to 8 MB.
- Discord formatting such as `**bold**` or `*italic*` shows as formatting in Discord.
- **Mentions don't ping anyone.** `@everyone`, `@here`, or member mentions still show in the message, but send no notification. This keeps a scheduled post from pinging the whole server by accident.
- Forum channels are not supported yet. Connect a regular text channel.

Options in the Create post window (the Discord account tab):

- **No notification:** server members get no push notification, only the new-message marker.
- **No link preview:** links in the text are not shown as a preview card.

## If the webhook is deleted [#if-the-webhook-is-deleted]

If the Tebar webhook or its channel is deleted in Discord, the account shows **Needs reconnecting**. Click **Reconnect** on the Accounts page and choose the channel again.

If a post gets no answer from Discord, Tebar does not send it again, so it never publishes twice. The post is marked failed with a message to check the channel first.

## Through the API [#through-the-api]

If you already have a webhook URL, connect it with `POST /v1/accounts/discord/webhook` and the body `{ "webhook_url": "https://discord.com/api/webhooks/…" }`. Tebar checks the webhook with Discord before saving it (up to 30 times per hour). When this account is disconnected, a webhook you pasted stays in Discord, since other tools may still use it.

A webhook URL is a key for posting to the channel. Keep it like a password, and don't paste it into a chat with an AI. That is why connecting Discord is not available through MCP.

## Not available [#not-available]

Comments and statistics: a webhook can only send messages, not read the channel. Messages you send directly in Discord do not show in the Tebar calendar either.

## Disconnecting the account [#disconnecting-the-account]

Click **Disconnect** on the Accounts page. Tebar also deletes its webhook in Discord, so nothing is left behind on your server.
